Wow does no one know how to read of comprehend anything anymore. Look back on EVERY post I have made about this. Far too many people are either posting because they do want to sell it, or feel that just because a couple people got one and that they didnt, they feel that the event should be extended so they can try to get one.

The simple fact of the matter is that the minipet is a rare drop. hence the word, "RARE"!!!

The word rare according to the Miriam-Webster dictionary (www.m-w.com)

Please feel free to read the highlighted part.

Now tell me where in there that just because you want one, or just because there is one in the game, that means you are entitled to it or that you are guarenteed such an item? Rare drops exist for a reason and just because you had a limited time to get one (that we know of for now) does not mean that you are guarenteed one.

Anet added this prize without telling anyone, the same as they did for the mini ghostly hero, and even now there are only a handful out there and this prize has been in the game for months now. Hence the definition of the phrase "rare drop."

If this is still too hard to grasp, read point 3 in the definitions of the word "rare".

I am still failing to see why people are calling the event as "abruptly ending"

that timeline is for the hats and when the battle between grenth and dwayna would take place......

the ending of wintersday without notice is b.s.!!!!!! i had just ended the mission with grenth and had just loaded into the city..and i wanted to turn in my candy cane shards so i start running to the npc to trade in my c.c.shards and i look and see that the message "new build blah blah blah" came up...i turn around and all the wintersday npc's are gone!!! now i cant turn in my candy cane shards! cant they at least put back the wintersday gift giver npc?!!!!!!!!!

if they are to end wintersday (without giving previous notice of end time) why not get rid of everything? (which i dont want!) grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

why not extend it like they did before?? was it last year or the year before that it was extended till jan 11th?

i want wintersday back for at least another day...allow everyone the chance to wrap up what they havent finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i dont care about some rare drop...now im stuck with 6 slots of inventory taken up till next year....unless ANET does have a heart and puts back the wintersday gift giver npc......

Explain to me your definition of a "finale"?

The first Wintersday ended just like this. Last year was an exception based on charity towards those who missed the finale entirely. This year was a return to form.

I read the "finale" as the last time I have before they remove Wintersday from servers. I do all my business before the last finale, instead of vainly farming more, eeking out a little bit more pixels and then complaining I have nowhere to put them.

This has already been answered in this and other threads like 900 times, but the reason it was extended last year was due to the earthquake in taiwan that prevented users from even having access to the internet, much less guildwars.

Hardly bitter I can assure you. I am the kind of person who doesn't care about cash that much and will dedicate it to the HoM shrine and keep it.

My sense of humour I admit tends to be a tad black and on the sarcastic side...certainly not to be taken too seriously.

ROFLOL. You've clearly put some effort into that. I won't comment on your attempt to teach me English from a US online dictionary and will, instead, simply ask you: how does the definition of rare counter arguments against the level of rarity assigned to a virtual item?

And if people want to express that they don't like the methods of awarding these sorts of bonuses, and would prefer other systems that have also been used in the past, why shouldn't they?

Yes ANet have included rare pets from chests before - I would argue that was of less concern, because they were in elite areas, were the kinds of players that want rarity gravitate too. This was a festival prize. We all join in at festivals, regardless of skill level or the amount of time we can commit. Is it too much to ask that the rewards be accessible?

Oh I'm sooo greedy for wanting an even semi realistic time frame to earn an in game item fairly that I already made myself near sick trying to get but got nothing.

I'm a real Grentch huh. /rolls eyes.

I'm greedy for that am I , and its all "grats witchblade, gg witchblade etc" , where are the people calling her "greedy" for wanting wintersday over to maintain the exhorbitant value of her newly aquired minipet.

Oh I dont see it. Must be my greedy eyes always shifting to new gold XD

I dont know why i bother with ppl here sometimes.
I agree why don't you just leave, we certainly don't need yet another QQer here we have enough of them on a daily basis already. So, go crawl in mommies lap and snuggle up to her busom and have her make it awwww better. (put your thumb in your mouth for old times sake too huh?)

I agree a festival mini should not be limited to a extremely low drop rate and a small time period and the luck that people would actually find it before others work out that it's worth it to complete the quests. They could of atleast made it a challenge rather then chance(like a long quest were you need to be involved in a number of wintersday activities lets say get 250 candy cane shards, complete 4 wintersday quests, particiapte in 20 snowball fights and trade for 5 items from wintersday collectors).

Then we have those trolls that whine about the whiners whining lol.

As for the event it did feel a bit abrupt when it ended but oh well. I still think it would have been nicer if the mass had a better chance at getting the polar bear like the mini pig since it was a festivities mini pet.

Ok a few things here youre mistaken or backwards on.

1.) in every game, items will have a value assigned to them. The higher the value, the lower the drop rate of said items. This has been done throughout the history of online games and any game for that matter that rewarded its players through item/loot drops. Guildwars is nothing new to this market. Certian Items are placed within games and are ment to be rare. If Arenanet wanted everyone to have a shot at a mini polar bear, they would have done it as an all event prize such as the mini pig.

2.) the playerbase reacting to rare items and a low drop rate is nothing new to any game. There will always be people saying that the drop rate is too low for certian items that are in high demand, yet seldom are found, thus again pointing towards the title of being a "RARE DROP".

3.) This mini polar bear is not a festival prize. It is an item that is rewarded in a chest for completing the objective. No where in any definition of the quest, of being a chest, of being a drop in the game, is this item listed as a festival prize. If said item was a festival prize, than it should have been handled in an event such as the mini pig was handled, where everyone in the districts that met the criteria recieved one. So since a chest spawns when I finish underworld, does this mean that its an automatic eternal blade? Because this is the likeness that you compared it to in such that since it is a chance in a quest reward, that upon completion of said quest, youre entitled to the rarest possible outcome as a reward of said quest being completed.

The mini pig was gold and therefore meant to be rare as well.

O.o

No one is really bothered too much about the drop rate of the polar bear, if you bother to read, the problem was that Anet didnt confirm it untill the last day, and they actually said it was false prior to this.

I would have liked to have used to full 12 days to attempt getting a mini polar bear, not the 8 hours that I had. Not that 8 hours of grinding shouldnt be enough anyway, but thats how rare they made it that it virtually didnt drop for anyone that had been farming for it for 20+ hours.

My biggest gripe with this event was the lag (avg. ping of 18k woo!).

My biggest gripe with Anet is allowing the lie regarding the Polar Bear mini to perpetuate until the last minute. Gaile posted on the 28th denying its existence, then counters, apologizes, and confirms it 5 days later... approximately 24 hours before the event ends.

This does not constitute acceptable business practice. "Sorry" is not a magical word. Excuses and apologies do not turn back time nor do they fix a problem or offer a solution.

I don't want an extended event. /notsigned for that.

I do want, and fully expect, and explanation and solution to the problem of Anets "oversight" on the polar bear matter.

I agree that it was bad on Arenanet's part to deny the existance of the item, then confirm it only after someone finds one prior to the ending of the event.

I have never said otherwise.

and the minipig was different as pointed out already in that it wasn't a chest reward, it was a festival prize, much like the hats are.

The mini ghostly was announced as a special prize added to the hall of heroes chest, and took over 3 months to find the first one. Thus equaling far more than 20 hours someone spent running a quest for a bear and these have a similar drop rate aparently...

You guys are all retarded. Wintersday is a privilege that Anet gave to us for a week or two. They didn't have to do this, and they didn't have to activate that mini polar bear thing or tell us about it. Now quit whining and go out for a beer or something. Staying at home 24/7 having your mommy watch over you will only make you a whiny little brat over a computer game special event.
